February 26: Think About the Team
As a hockey player I have had a bad shift or two. My tendency is to come back to the bench after making a mistake and get down on myself. It's important to care, and to show my teammates I take the game seriously, but it can go too far. When I sit and brood I take myself out of the game. I get overly focused on my self and stop thinking about the team.
I love working with people who take responsibility for their actions. On the other when they focus too much on what they did or didn't do, it becomes a distraction. Take accountability and get back in the game. That's what your team and your co-workers need from you.
What do you do when you make a mistake? How do you get the focus back on the team?
