⚠️ Warning: WordPress Users - Your Website May be Comprised
The latest reports confirm attacks on websites built with WordPress.
Due to its popularity, WordPress is a regular target for hackers. In fact, approximately 35% of all websites are built on WordPress.
Then there are the “Plug-ins” used by most WordPress sites. These are add ons that let you do special things like adding forms, social media, images galleries, etc. But Because they can come from anywhere, they tend to be even more vulnerable than WordPress itself.
WordPress became popular because it was free and easy to use. However, over time, other platforms like Squarespace have come along that are easier to use and are inexpensive. The software, hosting, plugin features and security updates are all taken care of by them.
I no longer use WordPress due to its complexity and vulnerability to attack. And when you add the cost of hosting WordPress, paying someone to manage it for you, the necessity to make constant security updates and the possibility of leaking your private information, is it really “free”?
When I work with new clients that have a current WordPress site, more often than not their WordPress software and Plug-ins need to be updated and are therefore open to attack.
If you have a WordPress site, or you are not sure, contact your webmaster right away to make sure your site is up to date. Otherwise, you and your site visitors might be vulnerable to hackers stealing your private information.
