Some salespeople find a pitch that works and use the same technique on every customer. Don't be that guy. Being a robot is not the best sales approach. Realize that there are different types of customers including the following:
• I want to talk to the salesperson
• I want to be left alone to figure it out
• I want to be left alone until I have a question, then a salesperson better be available right away
• I know what I want, let me get it, pay and get out of here as fast as possible
Each of these people needs to be approached differently to be effective. The first step is to figure out what type of customer you are dealing with.
