7 Keys to Marketing Genius: Bright Flight
The following is an excerpt from The 7 Keys to Marketing Genius by Michael Daehn
Bright flight is the process of all the smart people leaving a business. Typically, this happens because the smartest and most talented people realize when a business is not run well or they are not being compensated adequately. If you want to attract and retain quality people, you must pay them what they are worth. Bear in mind that studies have shown money is not the primary motivator for most people. Employees are willing to receive less pay for pleasant working conditions. Pay is a motivator, but how employees are treated is also a big factor in their dedication to a company. It is probably cheaper to treat people with respect than to pay them enough that they will work at a job they do not like. You must either pay your people well or treat them right. You are better off doing both.
