A common mistake people make when talking to their network is to try to sell product. Often times the members of your network are not ideal customers for what you are selling, though they are interested in helping you become successful. A better approach is to communicate with your network:
• What kind of customers you need
• Who you would like to meet
• The definition of a good referral
Presented in this way, a healthy network will do what it can to spread the word for you. Help them help you, instead of trying to push more product down their throats.
