The book Blink by Malcolm Gladwell explores the notion that you  make snap judgments about people and situations. The interesting  thing is that those first impressions are usually the most accurate. A  few lessons to be learned:  

• Make sure you are ready when you first meet your customers.  You may not get another chance to impress them.  

• Don't over analyze situations. There is something to be said  for gut feelings. Many folks have been accurate right of the  bat, but then talk themselves out of it by thinking too much.  

• You are who you are and people know it at some level. No  amount of glitz and glamour can cover up for a poor product  or lack of character.
