Compromise means meeting halfway. The problem is that you usually end up with a worse solution than either person could have created on their own. It's better to go for synergy where a third alternative is decided upon that leads to better results
Compromise is 1+1=1
Synergy is 1+1=3 or more
It takes more effort, and maturity, but synergy is always better than compromise.
