Do you remember the old pharmacy counters where the pharmacist stood about 3 feet above you? I'm sure there was a reason for doing that originally, but it has faded into obscurity. When I go to the very successful Walgreens pharmacy, the pharmacists are right there on your level.
Appearing to be superior to your customers does not work well today. Make sure your space to interact with customers is friendly and puts you on the same level, or puts the customer higher.
Where do you interact with customers? Is the space set up to make customers feel equal or superior?
